A Journey of Show Jumping Passion: An Interview with Rahel Pulfer

Rahel Pulfer has been passionate about show jumping since earning her classical riding badge in 2005, and her journey with her mare, Zazou II, has brought many victories and lessons. As a brand ambassador for Equinetree, Rahel is excited about their sustainable approach, using apple waste to create durable products. She looks forward to continuing her competition journey while providing feedback to help optimize Equinetree’s innovative offerings. We’re intrigued and asked Rahel 5 questions:

1.Career Beginnings and Motivation:

How did you get into show jumping and what motivates you to continue to grow and succeed in this challenging sport?

Even as a child, I was fascinated by horses. When I completed the classical riding badge in 2005, I knew that my passion belonged to showjumping. With the purchase of our first own horse, I obtained the jumping license in 2013. I have always been very ambitious and of course always wanted to be good. With my mare Zazou II, who has been with me for 6 years now, I have learned a lot. With her, I have been able to bring home many placements and of course, the ambition is there to consistently deliver good performances. Good training is, of course, part of that.

2.Training and Strategy:

Could you give us an insight into your daily training program and explain how you prepare yourself and your horse for competitions?

I try to keep Zazou’s program varied. Once a week (sometimes only every two weeks) we have jumping training. Besides jumping, it is important to me that we go on long rides in the terrain, work on the flat, and of course, lunging should not be missing.

3.Highlights and Experiences:

What has been your most unforgettable moment as a show jumper so far and what lessons have you learned from this experience?

Zazou has taught me in many ways that everything happens when the time is right. I think there are some wonderful moments, whether it’s passing the jumping license, the double victory in one day that I never thought possible, the many placements, and my first placement in R/N 120 at the end of last year. The most important realization from all the good and bad experiences is that it doesn’t work without mutual trust and you have to be patient.

4.Partnership with the Brand:

How does our brand support you in your equestrian ambitions and what do you particularly appreciate about the products you use?

I am fascinated by the fact that a material can be made from apple processing waste that looks like leather and is practically just as durable. I love the idea of using something made from “old” material. I am excited to use it in everyday life and look forward to testing the first products.

Why did you decide to become an ambassador for our brand, and which aspects of our products do you find particularly useful for your discipline?

In today’s world, I think it’s important that we can rely on alternative products, even better if they are made from a “waste product.” I really liked the presentation of Equine Tree on Insta, and I thought that I would love to introduce these products. After all, a good halter accompanies me in everyday life, at home, or even on a competition day.

5.Goals and Visions:

What goals have you set for yourself in the future, both in sports and as a brand ambassador, and how do you plan to achieve them?

Of course, I want to continue appearing at competitions with my wonderful mare in the future, but above all, it’s about the fun and making sure that we stay healthy and happy. I would love to give my feedback on the products to EquineTree. Optimization is key, and I’m incredibly excited to be part of this fantastic team!
